SUMMER BRIDGE
This is a session for incoming 6th graders which welcomes our new 6th graders to Meyerland Performing and Visual Arts Middle School (MMS). The in-coming 6th graders attend an one-of-a-kind workshop designed by the school just for them. The incoming 6th graders will get a sample of the school curriculum by participating in English, Math, and Art Classes and will also get a personalized tour of the school. Best of all, they will meet new friends!
The Summer Bridge program was open to all incoming 6th graders based on the following criteria:
- Student plans on attending MMS for the following (currently 2016-2017) school year.
- Student has passed the 5th grade Math TAKS test.
- Student is not required to attend Summer School.
Examples from this year (2016 -17) are as follows:
There were four sessions this year with one field trip each (your child may only attend one session):
- Session 1: June 6-8 / 8:20 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
- Session 2: June 6-8 / 12:20 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
> Field Trip One session only – June 9, 7:20 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. iFly Houston (Indoor Skydiving). Bring sack lunch.
- Session 3: June 13-15 / 8:20 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
- Session 4: June 13-15 / 12:20 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
> Field Trip One session only – June 16, 7:20 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. iFly Houston (Indoor Skydiving). Bring sack lunch.
For the 2016 - 2017 year, there was a required $50 fee for camp, iFly (indoor skydiving) field trip and transportation. Meals are not provided for this program. Money orders were to be made, payable to: JMS PTO for the 2016 -2017 Year. (For the 2015 -2016 year, the money order was supposed to be made out to Johnston Middle School). The names have changed, so please check up on this before creating a money order.

School Uniforms are also sold during the Summer Bridge sessions by the PTO. Generally the timing for this is between 11 AM - 3:30 PM. An example flyer of when the uniform's were sold during Summer Bridge / Magnet Registrations is at this link. Prices and Dates may change, so make sure to confirm that with our Uniform Sales Representative on the contact list.
